The same thing happens on Muharram procession, Christian's procession and other shobha yatras, the traffic police diverts the traffic of Residency Road, Rajinder Bazar, Raghunath Bazar, New Plot," said Gourav Mahajan, a businessman. "We are not against any religion and religious processions, but our administration is lacking management, which is affecting the normal routine of the common man," he add. The Nagar Kirtan procession was started from Gurudwara Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji Chand Nagar and passed through Samadian Road-Vinayak Chowk-Gumat crossing-Dogra Chow-Hotel Asia-Green Belt-Gandhi Nagar Hospital road-Gole Market- Shivaji Chowk-Khalsa Chowk and concluded at Gurudwara Sri Singh Sabha Nanak Nagar Jammu. The procession started at 10 am from Chand Nagar Gurudwara and concluded at Nanak Nagar Gurudwara at 6 pm. Thousands of people of sikh community participated in the day long procession. Hundreds of commuters were trapped in the long traffic jams connecting all these places, where the procession goes, which results the chaos and confusion among the people. "I was stuck near old RTO Office for more than 30 minutes, finally my son moved out of the car and went on feet towards Airport, as he has to catch the flight," said Bhushan Lal Pandita, a commuter. The procession which started in the morning also caused trouble for the employees as well as the businessmen who were on their way to their jobs. A senior official of the traffic department said, "We cannot stop the religious procession, but we tried our best to make the smooth flow of the traffic." "We had given the diverted traffic route in newspapers and I think it was not the traffic jam, it was the slow movement of the traffic," he added. |
