| Medicos hold massive protest against MCI | | | Et report
Jammu, Feb 10 : The medicos in GMC hospital held massive protest, demonstration against the Medical Council of India for its decision to increase the two and half more years to get the degree of the MBBS. The Medicos large in number to register their protest against the MCI locked the gate of the GMC hospital. They also announced the boycott of their classes till the MCI revert its decision. According to the medicos, they were put to the subject of harassment in the shape of adding two and half year to its existing period of study to get the degree. They alleged that if MCI's decision to be implement, then it takes seven and half year to get the degree which is a prolonged period to become a doctor. Further adding,already to become a doctor a student has to go through seven years study which including Post Graduation. But new decision of MCI would consumed nearly ten years to become a doctor. As per new decision of MCI, a student of medical needs to go through one year course of internship and one year to serve in rural areas to the existing period of five years. The medicos decided to go on strike till their demands are meted out. |
