| 436 posts of Assistant Professors proposed to be created in 4 Universities | | | Akshay Azad
Jammu, Feb 10: The State Higher Education Council (SHEC) has proposed to create a total of 436 posts of Assistant Professors in four Universities of state, in the next three financial years. Sources informed Early Times that the proposal finalized in the recently held meeting of (SHEC), chaired by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, a total of 436 posts of Assistant Professors were proposed to be created in four government aided Universities viz-a-viz, University of Jammu, University of Kashmir, Baba Gulam Shah Bhadshah University and Islamic University of Science and Technology. They further said that highest 180 posts were proposed to be created in University of Kashmir followed by 146 in University of Jammu , 60 posts in Baba Gulam Shah Bhadshah University and 50 posts in Islamic University of Science and Technology from 2014-15 to 2017-18. "For the ongoing financial year, a total of 50 posts are proposed to be created in University of Kashmir, while for year 2015-16, a total of 60 posts and in 2016-17 a total of 70 posts are proposed to be created", sources said, adding that in University of Jammu, out of total 146 posts of Assistant Professors, 40 posts are proposed to be created in 2014-15 while 50 posts in year 2015-16 and 56 posts in year 2016-17. Moreover, 15 each posts will be created for next two years in BGSBU and Islamic University of Science and Technology, while in the year 2016-17, 30 posts are proposed to be created in BGSBU and 20 posts in Islamic University. Divulging further details, sources said, an amount of Rs. 5.80 Lakhs will be provided to fill each position of Assistant Professor or equivalent cadre. "A total of Rs. 16.01 Crore will be provided to University of Jammu, Rs. 19.72 Crores for University of Kashmir, Rs. 6.09 Crores to BGSBU and Rs. 5.51 to Islamic University of Science and Technology in the coming three years.Sources further said that the plan finalized by the State Higher Education Council has been submitted to higher authorities and once the plan is approved, the creation of posts would be started. |
