Malik withdraws from Baramulla Lok Sabha seat in favour of PDP

Srinagar, May 6: Abdul Hamid Malik today withdrew from Baramulla Lok Sabha constituency to support of the PDP's candidate, Muzzafar Hussain Baig, a PDP Spokesman said.
He said Malik, a young political activist from Handwara, had filed his nomination as an independent candidate. Malik later joined PDP in presence of the party's senior leader, Mohammad Ashraf Mir, MLC at Dak Banglow, Handwara, the Spokesman added.
Speaking on the occasion Malik said, "It was need of the hour to work under the leadership of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed to create conducive atmosphere on the ground."
Welcoming Malik in to the party fold Mir said it is an encouraging trend that people from different walks of life particularly the youth are joining the PDP in good numbers.
