Kishtwar, May 6: Minister of State (Home) Sajjad Ahmad Kichloo today asked Border Roads Organization (BRO) to immediately begin repair and maintenance of roads in Kishtwar district.
In a press statement issued today, Kichloo stated that due to extremely bad condition of roads, people at several places in Kishtwar district are protesting over poor condition of roads, especially from Malipeth to Kuleed Chowk, Batote to Kishtwar, Kishtwar to Padder and Kishtwar to Sinthan Top. Assuring the people (who protested against the depleted road in district) about immediate repair and maintenance of all roads in the district, Kichloo said he has taken up the issue with Director General, BRO. "I have written to DG, BRO and I am sure that work on all the these roads will commence soon," he said. Kichloo said that he understand the problems faced by the people living both sides all along the National Highway and termed the demand of agitating people as genuine. He said that black topping on city & outskirts roads coming under the ambit of R & B department will also be started shortly. The Minister stated that due to poor condition and closure of roads, the people have to face various hardships which include smooth flow of essential supplies to the far-flung district. "Over the last few years, the condition of several roads maintained by GREF / BEACON in Kishtwar district have deteriorated, which has resulted in great hardship to the people," the Minister said, adding BRO has been asked to immediately take up repair work on war footing.
