Jammu, Sept 28: Department of Zoology, GCW, Parade organised an awareness lecture under the Star College Scheme, on the topic "Animals, their benefits and the atrocities met by them under the hands of human beings." According to press release, the resource person on the occasion was Malvika Kalra, the founder member of "Rehai" an initiative to free the animals from agonies due to humans. The speaker in her address gave a detailed account of the animals and the cruelty met by them. She laid emphasis on the need to stop killings of the animals for meat, fur, hike and other animal products. The speaker also motivated the audience to turn to vegetarian habits, which will not only check the atrocities to animals but also uplift the health standards of human beings, as it is well established fact that the vegetarian live longer than the meat eaters. The principal of the college, Dr. Hemla Aggrawal, in her address lauded the efforts of department of zoology for organising the lecture, she stressed on the need of organising such events in future.
