| To remain in news is Mr Bhim Singh's first priority | | Supporting and opposing Pak simultaneously | | Rustam
JAMMU, Sept 28: Delhi-based chief patron of the so-called pro-Dogra and pro-Jammu Pradesh JKNPP Bhim Singh can do anything to remain in the news, if not in all local newspapers, at least in some. And to remain in news, he can even contradict his own stand. He could have played a very important role, but he utterly failed because he is one political person in the state who has never been consistent. He started his political career as a pro-Jammu leader, but practically did nothing for the cause. That's the reason the JKNPP could not become popular in Jammu province and he is not taken seriously by anybody. He always eats his words or takes U-turn. The latest example is his Saturday statement. On Saturday, he took a complete U-turn and asked Pakistan to vacate Gilgit-Baltistan and PoJK. "Vacate entire territory of J&K, illegally occupied by it since 1947…Pakistan deliberately violated UN resolution of August 13, 1948 whereby Pakistan had been directed to withdraw its army from entire territory of Jammu & Kashmir which included POJK, Gilgit, Baltistan as well as Siachin,"said Bhim Singh in a statement issued from Delhi. He also took on the Indian leadership, saying it failed in its duty to put pressure on Pakistan so that Islamabad vacated the aggression and the occupied areas reintegrated with India. There was nothing wrong with the suggestion that he made. After all, PoJK and Gilgit-Baltistan are legitimately Indian and the Indian Parliament has not once but thrice passed unanimous resolutions on Jammu & Kashmir saying in unambiguous terms that PoJK and Gilgit-Baltistan are integral parts of India and the only issue which still remains unresolved between India and Pakistan is the political future of these illegally occupied areas. Problem lies elsewhere and the problem is that Bhim Singh also criticizes the BJP-led NDA Government on the ground that it is not respecting the Pakistani Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif. Sharif has never missed any opportunity to harm and bleed India, but Bhim Singh has his own views on Sharif during whose time Kargil took place, Pakistan National Assembly adopted anti-India resolution on Jammu & Kashmir and ceasefire violations increased manifold. Just a couple of days ago, Bhim Singh had urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to show magnanimity by hosting breakfast to Nawaz Sharif at New York. He had defended Pakistan to the hilt and made a ridiculous statement that Pakistan didn't want war with India and that it wanted friendly relations with New Delhi. And he had made this statement in New Delhi claiming that his recent visit to Pakistan convinced him that the Pakistani state was innocent and it wanted peaceful relations with India. He had not spoken a word against Pakistan. Nor had he talked about PoJK and Gilgit-Baltistan. The point is that he can change stance anytime and anywhere so that he could get some space in some newspapers. |
