Local militant apprehended while attempting infiltration

Rajouri, Nov 27 : Rashtriya Rifle unit under the aegis of Uniform Force (Reasi), manning the fence in Noushera tehsil succeeded in apprehending a local militant while trying to enter the Indian soil from Lam area. The apprehended militant has been identified as Abdul Qayoom s/o SherMohd resident of Leeharan (Lam) who had crossed the border in 2004 for arms training. The militant had reached near his village Leeharan after crossing the Line of Control and is situated between fence and LoC in Lam sector and is divided between both the POjK and J&K.Police sources said that the intruder identified as 36 years old Abdul Qayoom s/o SherMohd resident of Leheran after getting training in terrorist's camps was active in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POjK) for the last many years. According to Lt Col Manish Mehta PRO,MoD at about 6.30 am alert troops manning border in Lam area noticed some suspicious movement and immediately cordoned off the area."in the ensuing search operation troopers caught the militant and recovered 1-AK 47 rifle with 30 rounds, 1-Pakistan made pistol, Rs 8100 Pakistan currency from his possession" said PRO, MoD.Till the filing of this report the militant was in the custody of the army and the senior officers and Military Intelligence personnel were questioning the militant.Police sources said that Abdul Qauoom had crossed the Line Of Control (LoC) I 2004 and a missing report was also lodged at Lam police post. Later Abdul Qayoom was booked under E&IMCO.Reliable sources at Rajouri said that Abdul Qayoom along with one MohdRazak of village Pukhrani wassen to POjK) by the security force on an important mission and both were caught by the Pakistan army.Both were later handed over to Terrorist outfits and were trained in subversive activities against India and since then trying to intrude into Indian soil.
