Jammu, Dec 30 (JNF): Principal Sessions Judge Kathua Vinod Chatterji Koul today awarded five years rigorous imprisonment and fine Rs 10,000/- to Ravinder Paul Channi, Tehsil Hiranagar, District Kathua in attempt to rape case. Principal Sessions Judge Kathua Vinod Chatterji Koul after hearing both the sides observed that Sexual violence apart from being a dehumanizing act is an unlawful intrusion on the right of privacy and sanctity of a female. Court observed that it is a serious blow to her supreme honour and offends her self-esteem and dignity and rapist not only causes physical injuries, but more indelibly leaves a scar on the most cherished possession of a woman i.e. her dignity, honour and reputation. Thus it is not a crime only against the victim, but is a crime against the entire society. With these observations court awarded five years imprisonment and fine Rs 10,000 with the direction that if fine released, pay the prosecutrix as compensation. According to the police case that Aunty of the prosecutrix lodged report a report that on 06/12/2012, 3.30 PM, when she came home, she found accused Ravinder Paul coming out of the gate. When she went inside, she found that prosecutrix was weeping and on inquiring she (prosecutrix ) disclosed that accused entered their house about half an hour before and committed crime upon her. A case against FIR No. 240/2012 u/s 376 RPC was registered at Police Station, Rajbagh, Kathua and after investigation challan was presented. |
