As AAP sweeps Delhi elections, PDP hopes for best deal with BJP over govt formation in state | | | Shakeel A Khan
Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, Feb 11: Following the debacle of Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) in the Delhi elections at the hands of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is seemingly going to enjoy an upper hand in the possible coalition government in Jammu & Kashmir with the BJP. Despite ruling in most parts of the country BJP failed to change the mood of the people in the strategically important states of the country like Delhi and Jammu & Kashmir. After forming the government at the centre and in many states BJP received serious setbacks in the form of unaccomplished Mission 44+, Mission II and the kind of drubbing party received in the Delhi assembly elections, have seemingly stopped the Modi wave and has brought BJP on the back foot. "The shameful defeat of BJP at the hands of AAP is for sure going to have its implications as for as the government formation in Jammu and Kashmir is concerned. Moreover PDP has improved its position by bagging the two important Rajya Sabha seats while the BJP had to be content with only one seat," said a political observer. By losing a Rajya Sabha seat, BJP has suffered the first great loss even before the formation of the government in the state, say political experts. These experts are of the opinion that such a shameful defeat of the mighty BJP in the Delhi assembly elections has taken the fear away from the PDP which can now help it to strike the best deal before forging an alliance. "One had imagined that the coming of Modi will magically transform India but as of now it has done nothing visible. The Modi government cannot take credit for slashing the oil prices as it is subjected to trend in the international market. So for nothing good has been done for the poor people and the outcome of the Delhi elections is the result of that," said a group of people. When asked that in what ways the outcome of the Delhi assembly elections is going to make impact on the government formation in Jammu and Kashmir, these people replied "Now BJP will take every step very cautiously. It will forget the aggression for which the party is known because the aggressive tactics of the party have backfired, whether the leaders of the party understand it or not". The comprehensive victory of the AAP in Delhi has proved the political pundits right that it is only the Modi factor which won the most of the elections for the BJP. But as the magic of Modi isn't visible on the ground even after spending almost nine months in power, has finally backfired.
