Early Times Report

Jammu, Apr 14: Describing the recently concluded session of State Legislature as a damp squib, Mr. Harsh Dev Singh JKNPP Chairman and former Minister regretted that none of the prominent issues pertaining to Jammu region was raked up during the said session generating a feeling of unrest, discontent and disappointment amongst the people of the region. He said that Budget session which provides the highest opportunity to the legislators and the political parties for ensuring the incorporation of their manifesto, pledges and public commitments in the State's Annual implementation programmes has largely disappointed the people as none of the Jammu based issues was agitated by any of the Jammu based legislators in the Assembly.
Making a mention of the tall prouncements made by the BJP during elections regarding Empowerment of Jammu, Delimitation of Assembly constituencies, end of discrimination against Jammu region and ensuring it equitable treatment, issuance of Dogra Certificate to Jammu youth, grant of State Subject rights to West Pak Refuges, ' Abolition of custodian Deptt. and conferment of ownership rights to its occupants', ' Right to vote in Assembly Elections and local bodies to WPRs', 'Reservation of 5 seats for PoJK migrants and 3 seats for Kashmir migrants', '33 % reservation for women in Assembly, state subject rights to children of daughters of J&K married outside, Provision of 6% vertical reservation to ex-serviceman and martyr's families along with slogan of 'Ek Nishan, Ek Vidhan', he said that all the said slogans fell flat.
Mr. Harsh Dev Singh said that whereas the PDP embarked upon its agenda from day one with announcements of holding talks with Pakistan, Hurriyat and Separatists, Phased revocation of AFSPA, enhanced cross-LoC trade, Return of hydro power projects and allotment of local block and denial of separate homeland for Kashmir migrants, the BJP miserably failed to rake up any of its issues in the Assembly or atleast initiate any discussion in respect of them thus meekly and pusillanimously surrendering to the whims of its highly powerful and dominant partner. Lamenting that the current Budget session shall be remembered for total neglect and deprivation of Jammu region, Mr. Singh castigated the most cowardly surrender of BJP on the issue of AIIMS in particular which was actually announced for Jammu region.
He said that the Finance Ministry's announcement was explicitly conveyed to the State and carried in various daily newspapers in their daily editions of 1st of March 2015. He further said that Dr. Jitender Singh the Union MoS had also issued a statement from New Delhi on 28th Feb., 2015 thanking the Finance Minister "for having sanctioned AIIMS for Jammu and institute of Film Production (IFP) for Arunachal Pradesh".
Addressing media persons today, Mr. Harsh DevSingh said that the announcement having made by two Union Ministers including Union Finance Minister on 28th Feb. 2015 in New Delhi, It was shocking to note as to how the BJP partnered govt. in Jammu and Kashmir state allowed the prestigious project to be transferred to Kashmir.
Mr. Harsh Dev Singh said that JKNPP already having launched a movement for restoration of AIIMS to Jammu, protests and demonstrations were being organized in various district and tehsil headquarters on daily basis for retrieving the Rs.1600 crore Premier Health Institute. He made a fervent appeal to public, political and social organizations to Join the crusade so that Jammu region is not robbed of this highly prestigious project.
