Bijli plays hide & seek; consumers fuming | | | Raj Sandeep Early Times Report Jammu, June 22: Successive governments at the Centre and state have utterly failed to provide round the clock power supply to the people. The sources informed that the power consumers are the worst hit in the state, especially in Jammu division who have never seen such a miserable power crisis after independence as they are at present facing due to failure of BJP government at the centre with its local wing sharing power in the state. Amar Singh of Singh Pura said that he has never seen the worst condition of power supply in Jammu facing sweltering summer under the leadership of BJP who have brought bad days for Jammu people on many fronts with special reference to electricity supply based on unprecedented frequent cuts round the clock instead of its round the clock supply, he rued, assailing hollow slogans of BJP to bring about reign of "Achhe Din" for people. Sanjay Gupta, a chemist, said that after BJP government came into power, the power supply has been made to play truant more often than not pointing out that before 2014, the power cut after 11 PM used to be the last cut ensuring uninterrupted power supply enabling people to have atleast sound sleep at night. But he said, adding that after BJP government jumped into power by reciting "Modi, Modi Ghar Ghar Modi"on the strength of massive advertisement trapping the general public into its magic box, the power cuts are not only enforced during day but even at night these cuts have become authorised ritual to keep the power snapped after every hour during night forcing people to bear the brunt of acute power crisis . Kartar Singh of Bari Brahmana , who runs the grinding machine, assailed the local BJP minister dubbing him coward for his inability to assert and honestly pursue with the centre govt for getting power projects of NHPC as agreed to before forming government with its alliance partner PDP. He flayed the BJP party saying that it is a tricky political organisation which says something and does quite opposite with its Union Power Minister having flatly refused to hand over power projects to state to improve its power availability. A group of social workers said that if the government cannot meet up the power requirement of people in the state, it should work on the viable strategy of supplying power uninterruptedly depending upon the severe weather conditions differently prevailing in J&K divisions turn by turn. Saying that state government does not seem to be in a position to tide over the power crisis for another more decades, they were of the suggestive view that the government should work in tandem with lines that in summer and winter, the requirements of power vary in both the divisions alternately with one division needs it regularly in hot summer to fight sweltering heat and another division needs it during acute winter to keep them warmer. A senior citizen Ram Nath was critical of BJP govt for hypnotising the public on the plank of development slogan " Sab ka Sath Sab ka Vikaas" and said that what type of development the BJP visualizes to bring about when it has failed to stabilise the power sector in the trouble hit state necessarily needed for overall development on many fronts,he mocked, adding that erecting building and other structures is not going contribute much to satiate the needs of the public unless serious steps are taken to manage and fulfil the basic necessity like electricity of the general masses facing hardships ever since independence cramming "Oh bijli aayee, bijli gyee" in every household by one and all. |
