Woman BJP leader hosts iftaar party, ignores top leaders | | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, June 22: A woman BJP leader hosting an iftaar party in Srinagar without taking the party high command on board has annoyed the BJP leaders and they have taken a strong note of it. Sources said a woman BJP leader hosted an iftaar party here a few days ago and invited top notch people of Kashmir but the BJP leaders of the state unit were not invited. "The woman leader had not invited the BJP leaders to send a message to them that they are not relevant for her, and to protest against the shabby treatment meted out to her," said a source. He said the iftaar party hosted by the woman leader was sponsored by a Muslim BJP leader from Jammu. "The BJP leader from Jammu and the woman leader from Kashmir have joined hands to set up a parallel lobby in the state to counter the people who are running the BJP in JK," said a source. He said the BJP leaders have taken a note of it and have informed the party high command about the development. "The woman BJP leader hosting the iftaar party without taking the prior permission and then not inviting the top leaders can invite the disciplinary action against her and the party leader who sponsored it." Sources said the woman BJP leader is angry with the BJP state unit and the party high command for showing her "big dreams" initially and then dumping her. "The woman leader was expecting that she would be either made the Member of the Legislative Council or would be appointed as head of any of the boards in Jammu and Kashmir. Similarly another BJP leader from Jammu was also expecting that he too would be rehabilitated but both of them were ignored by the party. Both the leaders are not contented with the honorary party post they have been given," the source added. Insiders revealed the woman BJP leader is trying to rope in disgruntled BJP leaders so that she can build her base and then hold negotiations with the state unit of the party and the high command. A senior BJP leader while talking to Early Times said, "We were not invited to the iftaar party and we came to know about the party the next day and through some common friends who attended the event." "The people who joined BJP ahead of assembly polls in 2014 in JK were told in clear terms that they should not expect favours and have to work as party activists before aspiring for the top posts," the leader added. He said, "Setting up a parallel lobby is a serious issue and we are looking into it." |
