5 killed, 3 hurt in road mishaps 6/23/2016 12:25:39 AM Early Times Report JAMMU/KUPWARA, June 22: Five persons, including a motorcyclist, were today killed and three others were wounded in separate road accidents across the state. Ajay Kumar, son of Shallu Ram, was killed after the motorcycle (JK02BH/4757) he was driving was hit by a speeding tipper (JK02AN/5585) near Akhnoor. He hailed from Garkhal. Police have seized the tipper and registered a case in this connection. An unknown pedestrian was killed after a speeding vehicle hit him at Patli Morh, Brahmana, here Tuesday last at about 11.15 pm. His body was kept in the GMCH mortuary for identification. A tipper fell into a deep gorge near Sadna Top in Kupwara, resulting in the death of its driver and two others while one survived with critical injuries. The ill-fated tipper (JK09/2531) was on its way from Tangdhar to Kupwara. Police sources said when the vehicle was nearing Zarla Morh, the driver lost the control over it and it fell into a 100-mt deep gorge near Sadna Top, resulting in on the spot death of three persons, including driver. The dead were identified as driver Mohammad Sadeeq , Qari Mohammad Yaqoob of Hajitara and Iftikar Ahmad of Nawa Gabra. The injured was identified as Mohammad Sadiq of Hajitara, Kupwara. After the matter came to their notice, police reached the spot and evacuated the injured to hospital. The bodies were also shifted to hospital mortuary for post-mortem. A case in this regard was registered at the concerned police station. Dawa Dolma (9), daughter of Zawang of Zanskar, Kargil, was wounded after the Xylo car in which she was travelling turned turtle at Jhajjar Kotli. Javed Ali (18), son of Khan Mohammad of Poonch, was injured on being hit by a speeding vehicle at Poonch. Both of them were admitted to the GMCH here.
