Five day training programme on organic farming concludes

Reasi, Mar 4: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Reasi of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu (SKUAST-J) concluded five days long training programme on organic farming/natural farming/cow based economy/sustainable agriculture here today at Organic Training Centre at Talwara in Reasi district of J&K. KVK, Reasi imparted the training on organic farming to the 3rd batch of 30 farmers who enthuastically participated in the programme. Various technical sessions were organised during this programme. The programme was organised under the guidance of Vice Chancellor (VC) Dr.P.K. Sharma & Associate Director Extension (ADE) & Incharge of all the KVKs, Dr.R.K.Arora of SKUAST-J. Scientist & Head of Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Reasi, Dr. Banarsi Lal thanked the dignitaries and the farmers for the participation in the programme. In the concluding session he said that organic farming is the need of the hour and such programmes should be conducted for the farmers to promote organic farming in the region. He said that such long time training programmes help the farmers to increase their organic crops production by adopting the scientific methods for commercial organic farming. He stressed on the basic principles of organic farming and said that chemical farming causes ill-effects which can be overcome by the organic farming. He highlighted some important soil formulations for the enrichment of soil and demonstrated the preparation of Panchgavaya, Jeevamrit, Beejamrit, Fermented Butter Milk, Neem products etc. for the organic management of insect-pests and diseases.
