First time Lotus has bloomed in North East region
3/5/2018 10:39:22 PM
It is for the first time that the Lotus, BJP poll symbol, has bloomed in the North East region where the Assembly election results were out the other day. It is a clear majority for the BJP in Tripura and the BJP will form the Government in Nagaland with the support of the JD(U) and NDPP. Though the BJP and its allies gained 28 seats but the ruling NPF lost 11 seats and the Congress ,which bagged zero seat, lost eight seats. In Tripura the Congress drew blank and the CPM, which had ruiled for many years, lost 33 seats and won 16 seats. The Congress won 21 seats and lost eight in Nagaland the BJP won 19 seats adding 17 seats from the 2014 poll. In fact the CPM has been a major loser an d its leaders held BJP responsible for winning the poll through muscle and money power. But the BJP has countered the charge that the saffron brigade won the polls on development card. Political observers believe that the BJP win in the North east has been the result of voters concern over the deterioration of security scenario with the rise of Maoists and Naxals whose activities had paralysed normal life in the North east region.
The RSS had, as part of its strategy for a BJP win in the North east. It had helped the BJP in organizing manpower for the polls and besides this the RSS had carried out recruitment to its cadre which enabled them to work as poll managers. Neither Modi nor Amit Shah has made any announcement on the contribution of the RSS because let the RSS do its work quietly without raising any suspicion from the leftists. The role of the RSS in shaping the destiny of the BJP that has simply swept Tripura and Nagaland and may be able to form the Government in Meghalaya is known to the top leadership of the BJP and its leaders have conveyed to the RSS bosses their thanks and wish the RSS further enlarges its strength which would help the BJP in retaining power in 2019 election.
Yes the leftists have been crushed in the North east but the poor performance of the Congress is a matter of worry for the main opposition as less than one year is left for the next general election. The Congress, which ruled the country and had many states in its bag, has been squeezed to four states which should worry Rahul Gandhi. Rahul Gandhi had been able to do well for the party in Gujarat where it had won 40 seats emerging as a major challenger to the BJP. But the poor performance of the Congress in the North east is a matter of concern for the party which, if not left, is an alternative to the BJP. The RSS had devised a new strategy to woo people, rather voters. It deviated from its traditional stand on ban on cow slaughter and in the North east it advocated that the party is not opposed to beef eating. This did the trick.
