Jammu, Mar 17: Continuing with the drive against smugglers, the officials of Toll Post Lakhanpur and Police Department Lakhanpur foiled a major smuggling bid when they nabbed two vehicles carrying five bovine animals entering into the State.
Vehicles bearing Registration No.JK02AG-5947 & JK11A-0502 while trying to enter into the State were intercepted by alert guard at Car Jeep Counter Sanjeev Kumar and on his instance, Excise team, the CRPF and Police jawans caught the vehicles and arrested two drivers.
The case brought to notice a new modus operandi being adopted by smugglers for smuggling bovine in passenger vehicles after their attempts of smuggling bovine in commercial vehicles were thwarted by teams of Excise & Police. In the instant case, the staff of the Toll Post Lakhanpur in harmonious co-ordination with Police Department Lakhanpur and support of CRPF nabbed the vehicles and saved 5 numbers of bovine animals on spot. It is in place to mention here that this is the 4th detection of bovine smuggling at Toll Post Lakhanpur since October 2017. |
