A police spokesman said that the police started a sanitization operation in which the area was to be cleared of any unexploded shells / mines after the encounter ended at Balhama-Khonmoh. In this process the teams of police and other security forces including bomb disposal squad were put for job.
"While concluding the search and sanitation of the operation site, police recovered body of the third militant (identified as Hamas, foreign militant). Pertinently the area was sealed to carry out further searches on cooling of rubbles immediately after the encounter ended to ensure no damage is caused by any explosive material left over at the encounter site. In this connection police has already registered a case under relevant sections of law and investigation is on," said the police spokesman.
In the meantime, the police have arrested six persons involved in the attack on police constable Kultar Singh deployed at the shrine in Charar-I-Sharief in February this year. The constable sustained injuries in the incident and later on passed away at the hospital.
"On February 25, 2018, a group of militants fired upon SgCT Kultar Singh of JKAP 13th BN who was guarding Charar-I-Sharief Shrine wherein he got severely injured and later succumbed to his injuries.
