Fate of PDP-BJP coalition Govt hangs in balance
3/18/2018 1:54:37 PM
Early Times Report
jammu, Mar 17: The BJP leadership in Delhi is worried about reports of serious vote bank erosion that the state unit of the BJP in Jammu region has suffered. And the defeat of the BJP in the bypolls in UP and Bihar is seen as a warning for the BJP in the region of Jammu where it had,for the first time, won 25 seats out of 37 in the region in the previous Assembly.election.
Instead of trying various initiatives for arresting erosion in the BJP vote base senior BJP leaders are worried about the sacking of the finance Minister,Haseeb Drabu, over his remarks that the Kashmir issue was not a political issue. This incident has sent tremors in the BJP camp fearing that when the architect of the PDP-BJP alliance ,Drabu,is sacked what guarantee has that Mehbooba will not kick the BJP in its shins.
But the PDP cannot dare to initiate action on its own without seeking approval from the BJP leadership, especially the Prime Minister.Yes she may seek Modi's approval once Modi wins vote of confidence moved by the TDP,after it quit the NDA.The fate of Modi Government hangs in the balance And though Modi has lost his charisma which he carried during 2014 elections he is still the master of the ring and the coalition Government in Jammu and Kashmir banks on his support..Once he decides the coalition in Jammu and Kashmir may crumble like a house of cards,And a fall in the coalition Government will bring great relief to the National Conference and the Congress which plan to form an alliance to contest the next election because both PDP and the BJP have hardly any chance to win the next election..
Although the BJP ministers who have reached Delhi have maintained a guarded silence, it is believed that the high command would thoroughly discuss all contentious issues, including the sacking of Drabu.BJP sources said leaders were called for some "plain-speaking" as the BJP high command was not happy with the developments in J&K, especially in the Jammu region, which is the core constituency of the party.
Sources said the leadership was worried over the eroding party base in the Hindu-dominated areas of the Jammu region as party ministers had failed to reach out to the masses.
"The party high command has received disturbing reports about the brewing anger in the Jammu region as for the last one month people have been agitating on one issue or the other against the government," a source said, adding that "both ministers and top leadership of the state unit are responsible for the present situation in Jammu region.
That is the reason for the NC and the Congress to secure imposition of Governor's rule in the light of the deteriorating security scenario. And the NC and Congress are happy that the two are part of the grand alliance which was being formed to pose a new challenge to the BJP in 2019 election. But if the soothsayers and astrologers are to be given any credibility the BJP,under the leadership of Modi, may win the next election because their view on the issue says that Modi is destined to rule for 10 years.
And these very astrologers are any guide the current year could promote ongoing border conflict into a full fledged war between India and Pakistan which may give rise to a new nation called Baluchistan. These very astrologers say that Afghanistan may witness drastic political changes .And the separatists in Kashmir may lose their credibility because they may not be able to demand settlement of the Kashmir issue through talks between India and a failed state like Pakistan.
But neither Modi nor Mehbooba believes in these predictions and as such both New Delhi and Srinagar have to streamline counter insurgency operations so that the residue of militancy is finished allowing peace to return to Kashmir.
