Notorious criminal held with country made pistol, 5 live rounds

Jammu, Mar 20: Gandhi Nagar police arrested a notorious criminal with country made pistol and five live rounds and two magazines. Police spokesman said that police party from Police Station Gandhi Nagar established naka at Industrial Extension Area, Ashok Nagar for checking/ frisking of vehicles.
"During naka checking one pedestrian coming from Satwari side, on seeing the Police tried to escape from the spot in suspicious circumstances but he was chased and apprehended", said spokesman adding that during questioning he disclosed his name as Ashwani Kumar of Langdyali, RS Pura.
"On his personal search, one country made pistol alongwith 05 live rounds and two magazines were recovered from his possession", said spokesman adding that on this, a under case FIR No. 64/2018 under section 3/25 of Arms Act has been registered at Police Station Gandhi Nagar and further investigation of the case is going on.
The arrest and recovery was made by Inspector Sunil Singh Jasrotia, SHO Gandhi Nagar under the close supervision of SDPO City South, Rafiq Manhas, SP City South, Sandeep Choudhary.
Spokesman further said that during preliminary enquiry it came to light that above said accused was also involved in case under FIR No. 179/2017 under section 3/25 of Arms Act registered at Satwari police station and was then arrested with one country made 315 Desi Katta and five live rounds.
