We the Human" seeks claims settlement of PoJK displaced persons, West Pak refugees

JAMMU, Mar 31: Expressing its dismay over delay in settlement of claims of even first installment of sanctioned relief to the PoJK displaced persons, even after about seventy years of their exodus from the PoJ, "We The Human" has demanded one time settlement of the claims of PoJK displaced persons as well as the West Pak refugees. Addressing a press conference here today, the chairman of "We The Human" Gurcharan said this is really a mockery that the successive governments at the centre did not bother to compensate the PoJK displaced persons.
He said that most of the community members, striving hard for their survival, till date, are in deplorable conditions. Their wards were deprived of benefits of reservations neither in education nor in government jobs. Prem Singh, founder member of the trust, demanded that the two parliament segments should be carved out, especially to give representation to PoJK displaced persons, before 2019 general elections, and the twenty four assembly seats kept reserved for POJK should also be filled from amongst the PoJK displaced persons settled in J&K.
S. Gurcharan Singh also made an appeal, vehemently, to the Chief Minister of the state to declare an effective incentive policy for all agriculturists of the state who either have shifted or aspire to shift to traditional systems of agricultural farming. Special incentives should be declared for entrepreneurs and traders who wish to manufacture or open up sales outlets for organic agricultural inputs and microbial composting culture.
B D Chowdhary Field Officer of the trust said that hat excessive use of toxic chemical pesticides, insecticides, fungicides, herbicides, fertilizers in few areas of Jammu like Arnia, Vijaypur, Top, Phalla Mandal, Dattryal, Badyal Brahmna by farmers hailing from outside J&K should be immediately got stopped and all such vegetables produced using heavy sprays of toxic chemicals should be got checked by the Agriculture Department and Food Safety Organization. And, in case of positive tests, such vegetables should be destroyed before reaching the local markets. This become prime duty of all Food Safety Organization to check vegetables and fruits arriving in various markets and destroy them in case of toxicity found, before these are consumed by the public, which may cause cancer or serious diseases.
The government should also immediately take concrete measures for either complete ban of sale as well as manufacturing of plastic/ polythene bags or should set up a pulverization plant for recycling of the polythene/ plastic waste.
