Poshker Nath Koul pen
name pushker bedil is a freelance writer, dramatist, poet, singer and actor. His popular works are DAG (The Pain) a collection of poems,Laila Majnoon, Kral Koor, Tsok Modur Tu Ttyotth, Posh Theaer, Sheeren Farhad, Hemal Nagrai etc. He is an outstanding poet of immense repute, scholar of Kashmiri and Urdu. He is one of the towering personality of contemporary kashmiri literature.
The maturity of thoughts, craftsmanship, theamic appeal and sincerity of expression, chasteness of style, analytical approach and scholarly treatment makes his pioneering works as mark of significant contribution.
Born in Small and beautiful town Hanad Chawalgam distt. Kulgam in year 1943. This Wonderful village is surrounded by mountain, springs and small water channels and the beautiful stretches of green turf, walnut trees and vast apple orchards and helms of wild flowers on its slops. P.N Koul has inbuild tendency to become a teacher by profession so that he could strive with heart and soul to raise child upto highest perfections of mankind. He joined education department but due to some apathy from department he was forced to leave the job. But to cherish his dream of educating the needy he started his own institute and started educating poor and downtrodden class of society and proved his mettle and came up to the expectations of his students and created a niche for himself.He spends more than twenty years in educating the people. He educated lot of students who reached high positions like Nazir Ahmad laway(M.P) etc.
Bedil becomes a big personality in kashmiri poetry by virtue of his simple and heart touching expressions and placed himself in the galaxy of writers of his times like Arjun Dev Majboor,Sham lal Pardesi etc.
His heart was moved by the apathy of society and he used to give vent to his feelings through kashmiri poems and dramas. In fact the ray of spirituality was kindled in him by a great master namely Dr Mohan lal Potu who advised him to write in kashmiri language in which he can project his ideas and views more perfectly. In his writings he tried to endorse the communal hormony among the two communities.
It is rightly said that hope sustains life and every person hopes for better tomorrow. But poets are expected to be extraordinary as they express their views and thoughts in such a way that moved the whole humanity in a right direction .Bedil is a poet who had dreams of bright tomorrow and a high degree of vision in his eyes.He is a great human being,a man of dignity,honour and values and a real friend of needy and the poor. He started his own theatre named Pamposh Theatre and organized various Dramas and cultural programmes.He sung various songs in radio Kashmir.
Bedil has a great vision as seen in his poems. He predicts migration before migration as is vivid in his poems.
Tyalii addu seer gav seeras
Khwruk paa zaaru khot sheeras
Kambar futt naa ga yaas na tsas
Me baasoov bas me aasan roov
(Which means that all law and order was lost, unworthy ruled the roost,trust was broken and I knew I had lost my home).
After serving over a long period for his mother tongue, his contribution got recognized by the govt. of J&K and rewarded best writer of distt. on the eve of republic day by the Nayeem Akhter and Nazir Ahmad Laway. Recently another feather is added to Bedils cap as a National level NGO namely Yuva Shakti Jagriti Mission awarded him as a best writer for his works. |
