A pass over into the
testimonials reveal that the cosmos is captivated with varied occasions, opportunities, days, and dates patented with an act or event contrived to admire something or make something momentous and detectable. These occasions are glorified by various countries, governments, groups, Institutions, organizations, families to individuals. When we scroll the days and dates of national importance to be celebrated in India, our focus shift to following occasions; January 1, New Years Day (as per Gregorian Calendar), January 15: Army day, January 25: National Voters day, .January 26: India's Republic Day, January 30: Martyrs' Day, August 15: Independence Day, November 14: Children's Day as the main dates. There is tradition of celebrating of many days such as; anti leprosy day, national girl child day, national youth day, world disable day, word cancer day, no smoking day, world kidney day, world water day, world earth day, world blood donor day, world population day, international literacy day, child rights day, world aids day, human rights day, farmers day and many others. Apart from above a unique day as "April Fools' Day" also referred sometimes as "All Fools' Day" is glorified every year on fist April and marked by playing jokes and spreading hoaxes. We cannot rule out that jokes are also a way of life. It is ability to take a joke, not make one that proves you have a sense of humor. Hoaxes have been around for centuries, created by people as jokes, or for attention. There have always been hoaxes and we all have fallen for them at one time or another. There is nothing definite how it began but is celebrated across the world. Come what may in the refined society how it looks to befool a common man and what message is conveyed to the society through this celebration require comprehensive analysis at the appropriate forum. Those who wish to appear wise among fools, among the wise seem foolish. But at the same time the words of Sacha Guitry, a French screenwriter, and playwright: "Our wisdom comes from our experience, and our experience comes from our foolishness" is also one philosophy in the mankind. In present set up we feel obsessed that young men think old men fools, and old men know young men to be so. The Cultural Revolution has brought in many occasions and days for celebrations. Now and then new formations are coming forth marked to be celebrated such as; National Hugging Day, January 21, propose Day, February 8, Valentine's Day February 14, Friendship Day Fist Sunday of August etc. These all have their origin in other countries but our bent to westernized false culture is now trending towards these types of celebrations in Indian society, but at the same time these are attracting protests also. We are obsessed with feelings that jokes originate happiness and one playing joke feels him to be a wise man. But There is a difference between happiness and wisdom: he that thinks himself the happiest man is really so; but he that thinks himself the wisest is generally the greatest fool. Taking it as a joke I will not hesitate to say that this day marked by our politicians everyday as they never miss any occasion and time to befool the innocent public, hence every day is 'Fools' Day' for this fraternity. The big story of the day we come across the 1964 Indian Bollywood Film, "April Fool" a production of Subodh Mukherji starring Biswajeet and Saira Banu, where Saira fall in love with Biswajeet only because of his jokes. I feel script on "April Fools' Day" will be half written without mention of some historical events on First April. Some of the events that happened on this day i.e. first April are; On April 1, 1918, the British Royal Air Force (RAF) is formed as an amalgamation of the Royal Flying Corps (RFC) and the Royal Naval Air Service. In 1924 Hitler sent to Landsberg jail for treason. In 1946, on this day in 1946, an undersea earthquake off the Alaskan coast triggers a massive tsunami that kills 159 people in Hawaii. On this day in 1948, Soviet troops stop U.S. and British military trains traveling through the Russian zone of occupation in Germany. In 1970 Nixon signs legislation banning cigarette ads on TV and radio. The "Polish Prince" killed in plane crash in 1993 are worth mentioning.
Now is the time when no one falls prey to any body's attempt of making fool hence we should desist from the celebrations of an absurd occasion and explore some other worth events to be celebrated. The most celebrated occasion all over the world today is birthday celebration. Around the world, friends and relatives hold birthday parties, give gifts to one being honored and wish "Happy birthday". The celebrations are the occasions to meet, greet and serve relatives and friends.
It is celebrated in numerous cultures, often with a gift and party. In Canada and United States, the girl's 16th birthday is celebrated as "Sweet sixteen" celebration. In the Philippines, girls on their 18th birthday and boys on their 21st birthday celebrate as 'Debut'. In some Asian countries, there is tradition of celebrating 60th birthday. Apart from birthday, there is tradition of remembering marriage in the shape of 'Marriage Anniversaries', 'Silver Jubilees' and 'Golden Jubilees' as well. It is a healthy exercise to look for vivacious moments of the past, which energize the present. I visualize some of the days of our life, than traditional ones, that require great celebrations such as; Education Day; the day one enters into the temple of education i.e. School, to become a human in real sense. It is the transitional day to acquire education and knowledge for our future course of life. Education is important to life because it enables people to contribute to their community and their country. The day should be celebrated with distribution of books, best reading material, best thoughts and if possible by arranging lectures in schools and colleges, about importance of the education in self building, character building and Nation building. Service Carrier Day; the day when after completion of his education, one enters into service carrier, which enables one to cater to the financial duties ahead, to serve the mankind and to secure his old age from worries.. The working experience of a person enhances the working qualities of others if propagated. A man without experience is raw material and just a log advancing at the mercy of the water current. The day should be celebrated by propagating the best ways, to perform during one's service carrier, based on your practical experience by suggesting various measures to improve the service carrier in order to secure laurels from the seniors in general and from the Public in particular. The occasion should be marked by conducting lectures in schools and colleges and to impart tips as to prepare for a bright future and to build to face the challenges of service carriers ahead. Retirement Day; Retirement, according to the dictionary, is to "withdraw from one's position or occupation or from active working life". Just as people make an annual celebration of their birthday, wedding anniversary, or even their sobriety, make your retirement date a special time for the new life you are creating. It is the day when one re-joins his family after his prolong service and from daily grind. The retired person is a beautiful painting with all colors of life. The day should be celebrated by adhering to the 'tips to stay fit', 'stress free life', chat with your old friends and by having fun with your grand children in particular and by befriending with books especially based on the 'Theory and Methods of Salvation'. Concluding 'Education Day', 'Service Carrier Day', and 'Retirement Day' are real tribute to living and a vision to neophytes celebrating "April Fools' Day".
