| Sacrilegious act triggers protest, internet services snapped in Jammu region | | |  Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 17: Mobile internet services were suspended across Jammu region following protests over sacrilegious act at Sarore on Tuesday.
As the word about the sacrilegious act spread residents of the areas took to the streets and staged a protest. However, police rushed to the spot and used teargas shells to disperse the demonstrators. A few protesters were also wounded in the police action.
Significantly, trouble erupted a few hours after former forest minister Choudhary Lal Singh left Jammu for Kathua holding roadside rallies and criticizing his own government for not accepting the public demand for a CBI inquiry into Kathua case.
Sources said that during protests, eight locals sustained minor injuries while some persons were also detained by police but later on released. However, police remained tight-lipped over the detention of some suspects.
Police have registered FIR in this connection at Bishnah police station and started further investigation.
Sources said that locals echoed that this is not the first incident earlier also two same cases were reported in the area.
"Identify the persons behind the incident and book them", said locals during the protests.
It's in place to mention here Chander Prakash Ganga along with Choudhary Lal Singh had resigned from state cabinet after they landed into a controversy over participation in an agitation spearheaded by Hindu Ekta Manch following rape and murder of an eight-year-old Rassana victim in Kathua.
The Manch has been demanding CBI inquiry into the matter. Both the former ministers, sources said, questioned crime branch investigations and rallied behind the Manch in demanding that the case be handed over to the CBI.
