2 drug peddlers held with 18 gram heroin

Jammu, Apr 18: Gandhi Nagar police under operation 'Sanjeevani' launched by Vivek Gupta, SSP Jammu apprehended two drug peddlers along with 18 grams of heroin.
In its continuous drive against the drug peddlers and to curb the drug menace and its circulation among the youth of Jammu, today nakas were raised by Gandhi Nagar Police at Green Belt Chowk Gandhi Nagar and Rani Talab Digiana respectively.
"During naka checking at Green Belt Chowk Gandhi Nagar one car bearing Registration number JKO1D-9111 being driven by one Mohd Ashraf of Sunjwan was stopped for checking and during checking 08 gms of heroin was recovered from his possession", said police spokesman adding that another drug peddler namely Babneet Singh of Bari-Brahmna Jammu was apprehended by naka checking Police Party at Rani Talab Digiana.
Spokesman further said that scooty bearing Registration number JK02135-5618 was also stopped for checking and during checking 10 grams of heroin recovered from his possession
Accordingly, cases under FIR Nos. 86/2018 under section 8/21/22 NDPS Act and 87/2018 under section 8/21/22 NDPS Act respectively were registered at Police Station Gandhi Nagar.
Both the drug peddlers were formally arrested and vehicles used in the commission of crime as well as consignment of narcotics have been seized accordingly.
The arrest and recovery has been made by Inspector Sunil Singh Jasrotia SHO Gandhi Nagar and in-charge police post Digiana, SI Sandeep chauhan assisted by SI Kali Charan under the supervision of SDPO City South Rafiq Manhas, SP City South Sandeep Choudhary and SSP Jammu Vivek Gupta.
