jammu, Apr 18: The National Health Mission (NHM), J&K, is organising screening camps for children in various districts of the state. It has however raised fingers against the working of existing staff as they were not screening children in their respective centres.
On April 18, an NHM advertisement appeared in local dailies stating that the screening camps for children (0-18) years are being organised at 21 blocks. These blocks are: SR Gunj, Srinagar; , Ramnagar, Udhampur; Larnoo, Anantnag; Kangan, Ganderbal; Bandipora; Ghat, Doda; Sogam, Kupwara; Chadoora, Budgam; Mendhar, Poonch; Pampore, Pulwama; Shopian; DH Pora, Kulgam; Manjakote, Rajouri; and others.
An official of NHM, seeking anonymity, told Early Times that the camps which are being organised make little sense. "What is the fun of holding such camps as, the existing staff, drawing huge salaries, has failed to deliver?" he said.
"Every block across the state has two vehicles, a number of doctors. All expenses are borne by the NHM. Instead of boosting the existing healthcare system in far flung areas, the NHM is going to waste huge money by holding such camps."
He said there was no need of such camps as the existing staff could screen children under RBSK if they were asked to do so by the concerned authority. |
