Jammu, Apr 18: The Department of Indian System of Medicine (ISM) has failed to provide sufficient staff to run its dispensaries, as nearly 14 dispensaries in district Kathua are functioning without Medical Officers (doctors).
Sources informed Early Times that out of the 14 sanctioned doctors, four of them were deployed for starting first batch of Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS) in Government Ayurvedic Medical College Jammu. But their substitute is yet to be engaged in the district's dispensaries from where they were relieved.
Sources further said that the Health and Medical Education department (vide order No. 471- H&ME of 2017, dated 01/09/2017) engaged 13 Medical Officers from different districts of Jammu division for starting first batch of BAMS as lectures under different discipline wherein four of them were engaged from district Kathua.
"Ironically, no replacement was made in district Kathua so far, with the result patient care is suffering in these dispensaries and the pharmacists are compelled to run dispensaries without doctors", said sources while wishing anonymity.
As per order, Dr. Suresh Kumar, Dr Rakha Sharma Dr Aman Gupta, and Dr Narinder Sharma were deputed at district Kathua's dispensaries and now engaged in Ayurvedic Medical College as Consultant/Lecturer, Kaya Chikitsa, Lecturer Samhita Siddhanta, Consultant/ Lecturer Shalya and Consultant/Lecturer Kaumarbhritya. Even after lapse of seven months, their substitute is not engaged in these dispensaries.
Another official said the dispensaries where Medical Officer posts are lying vacant for a long time are Hamirpur, Saswan Kotepunnu, Parangoli, Kootah, Bhandher, Nagrotta Preyta, Dharmahanpur, Marapati, Aglidhar, Nathi, Duggani Lawang and Rajpura.
At Saswan and Parangoli, Dr. Suresh Kumar and Dr. Rekha Sharma were relieved and are now deputed at Ayurvedic College Jammu on temporary basis. But these posts are also lying vacant. |
