| Court awards one year RI to Patwari for forging revenue records | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Apr 18: Principal Sessions Judge Bhaderwah M K Sharma today awarded one year rigorous imprisonment u/s 465 RPC to Patwari Muna Lal S/O Kanshi Ram Caste Thakur R/O Chilli Pain Tehsil Gandoh for forging the revenue record.
Principal Sessions Judge Bhaderwah after hearing P P Manju Sharma appearing for the state whereas Advocate Abdul Wahid for the accused person observed that the society relies heavily on the revenue officials /officers, who are custodian of the record of the citizens pertaining to the title over immovable property including the houses where they live and the land they cultivate.
Forging the revenue record can have serious and far-reaching negative consequences including unnecessary involvement of innocent people in litigation and wastage of the money and time. It is settled law that in cases where persons found guilty of forging public record by misusing their official position, showing undue leniency to them while awarding sentence will only lead to loss in confidence of the public in the criminal justice delivery system, the judge observed.
He said that keeping in view all the aforementioned facts and circumstances, the convict is sentenced to rigorous imprisonment for one year for the commission of offence under section 465 RPC. |
