| CBI will probe Kathua case whether or not Mehbooba Mufti wants it, says sacked BJP minister | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Apr 18: BJP MLA Chander Parkash Ganga, who resigned as a minister in Mehbooba Mufti-headed NDA government in Jammu and Kashmir following uproar over Kathua case, has expressed confidence that CBI probe would certainly be ordered into the ghastly gang rape and murder of the eight-year-old girl.
Talking to a local reporters, the former commerce and industries minister said, "Whether or not Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti wants CBI inquiry would surely be held into the Kathua case."
Ganga's confidence oozed from the forthcoming visit of a delegation of Bar Council of India (BCI) to Kathua on April 20. "The members of the BCI delegation will spend two days in Jammu and Kashmir. They will meet the residents of Kathua and also go through the charge sheet. Whether or not the state chief minister wants, I am sure a CBI inquiry will be ordered after their visit," he said.
Ganga, a BJP MLA from Vijaypur, refused to reveal the source of his confidence. However, he hoped that something positive would come out of the hearing which is scheduled to take place on April 27 in the Supreme Court.
The former minister expressed dissatisfaction over the report of the Special Investigation Team (SIT). He said, "There is a conspiracy. I am not satisfied with the SIT report. I would not reveal more than this at this juncture." Ganga reiterated that the "conspiracy" would be exposed in the days to come.
He said only a CBI inquiry could unravel the alleged conspiracy. "The case would remain incomplete without a CBI inquiry just like the Pradyuman murder in Gurugram," he said. Ganga said had the CBI not stepped into the Pradyuman murder case, bus conductor Ashok would have been held guilty for the murder of the seven-year-old boy. "Similarly, there will be new findings in the Kathua case," he said.
On his participation in a rally organised by Hindu Ekta Manch over the issue Ganga said he took part in it on the orders of the party. "The party sent me to hear out the local people who were angry over the SIT findings," he said and asserted that he had never supported the rapists.
"The girl should certainly get justice. Nothing could be worse than what happened to her. It was ghastly. But the inquiry is incomplete without a CBI investigation," he said. He said no one will mind if the CBI too holds the same persons guilty who have been named in the SIT report. "There is nothing wrong in demanding a CBI inquiry. It is like shifting a patient from a district hospital to AIIMS in Delhi," he said. |
