RAJOURI, Apr 23: The investigation at war footing is in progress in an alleged illegal sale of government books by the private school administrations in nexus with book sellers and education department officials.
After the recovery of these books (for 6th, 7th & 8th classes for 2018-19 session) from the possession of students of private institutions and from a local book shop at Saj village in Thanamandi tehsil on April 16, Chief Education Officer (CEO) Lal Hussain had initiated a detailed investigation in this matter on the directions from DDC.
According to initial investigation the matter of illegal sale of government books came to light from Thanamandi Education Zone and special teams when visited a book shop and private institutions they found the books in the possession of the students and also seized these books as an official record and for further investigation.
On the directions from the DDC office, CEO has also moved an application for registration of case against the persons involved in this network and police after lodging FIR under sections 409 and 109 RPCs in the district.
"Immediately after the matter came to light and was authenticated by the special teams constituted all the stores meant for government books in the offices of all the ZEOs of the district were sealed/ locked for further investigations by the teams constituted for all the 15 education zones," said CEO.
He added the inquiry has almost been completed and within next few days the necessary departmental/ legal action will be taken against the persons/officials involved in this matter.
"J&K Board of School Education (JKBOSE) has procured these books after spending Million of Rupees for free distribution among the students of government schools. The recovery of books from book sellers/private institutions is an indication of nexus between education officials and book sellers and the scam may run into crores" said the CEO.
