Those demanding CBI probe into Kathua case are "dirty"
BJP again humiliates people of Jammu
4/24/2018 1:23:49 PM

Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 23: BJP is in a self-destruct mode. It is committing willfully committing a political suicide. It is hurting the people of Jammu and outraging their sensitivities in a most brazen manner. It is dismissing the people with contempt and further maligning them in its desperate bid to save the coalition of the North and South Poles. The PDP is implementing its agenda at an alarming speeding with top Union Ministers standing solidly behind it. Mercifully, the BJP instead of catering to the sensitivities of its own constituency is snubbing, taunting and abusing it taking it for a ride.
How could a demanding seeking a CBI probe into the alleged rape and murder of a poor Muslim girl at Rasana in Jammu's Hiranagar be termed as dirty politics? The Jammu & Kashmir BJP on Sunday launched a scathing attack on those demanding CBI probe and accused them of playing "dirty politics". Opposition parties were playing dirty politics by demanding a CBI probe, the BJP said.
The PDP is not demanding CBI probe. The NC, the Congress, the CPI, the CPI-M and separatists in Kashmir are not demanding CBI probe. Who, then, are demanding CBI probe? The people of Jammu province, the civil society groups in Jammu, including Jammu lawyers, women organizations, student organizations, VHP (RSS' outfit), ABVP (RSS' outfit) and two political parties, Panthers Party and Shiv Sena.
Are the people of Kathua in particular and Jammu province in particular communal and dirty as they are demanding a CBI probe into the whole case? Are they demanding CBI probe to help the rapists and murderers? No one till date has condoned the crime. All in one voice are demanding severe punishment for the real culprits and all are questioning the composition of the Crime Branch and the manner the government constituted three SITs in just 7 days.
CBI is the country's premier investigating agency. People and political parties trust it more than any investigating agency. In Jammu & Kashmir too, a number of rape cases and sex scandals were probed into by the CBI. The infamous Shopian rape case in Kashmir was one such case which was handed over to CBI by then Chief Minister Omar Abdullah after the opposition PDP raised a hue and cry against the local police and said it had no faith in the J&K Government's Crime Branch. And only recently, the Unnao rape case was handed over to the CBI by the BJP government in UP.
The demand in Jammu for a CBI probe is constitutional, genuine and rational and if accepted, would only restore the people's confidence in the criminal justice system. By opposing CBI probe, elements here and there, including the establishment and the BJP, are only creating an impression that they do not want the people to know the truth behind the ghastly crime. Crime is crime and the one who has committed it must be punished, be he a Hindu, Muslim, Sikh, Christian or Jain. Those who are opposing CBI probe are only undermining the country's premier investigating agency, CBI, and this is not desirable.
