Seek justice for Kulgam sex scandal victim also: Civil society to Lal Singh
4/24/2018 1:30:46 PM

Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 23: Members of civil society said that former Forest Minister Chaudary Lal Singh, who is spearheading the campaign to seek the CBI probe into the alleged rape and murder of a Kathua girl should come forward to seek justice for the Kulgam girl who was sexploited allegedly by a few politicians and police officers.
The victim hailing from a small hamlet in Kulgam district recently stated that a police officer asked her to drop the name of a PDP legislator from south Kashmir "As naming him would create hungama (uproar),"
It may be recalled that sex scandal came to fore in February this year when a girl from Kulgam district made startling revelations about the sex scandal being run from the Kulgam village.
An analyst while talking to Early Times said, "Lal Singh besides seeking CBI probe into the Kathua case should raise the issue of expediting the probe into the Kulgam sex scandal so that the victim gets the justice and the exploiters are dealt as per the law."
"The PDP has tried to push the case under the carpet to save the skin of its leader. Had PDP led government been sincere it would have taken stern action against the party leader against whom the allegations were leveled," he added.
It's in place to mention here that the Kulgam sex scandal was first reported by Early Times on February 3 this year. Till date Kulgam Police have not filed the charge sheet due to political pressure being exerted on it.
The victim recently said that till date she has not been asked to identify police officials and politicians involved in the flesh trade.
As reported earlier, the investigation by the police into Kulgam sex scandal, that surfaced two months ago, is moving at a snail's pace.
A Special Investigative Team (SIT) constituted by SSP Kulgam in February hasn't yet submitted its report. According to sources, the SIT continued to probe the case, but it had not done any credible exercise to establish the involvement of politicians and police officers in the sex racket as claimed by the victim.
The victim girl from Kulgam has alleged that she was sexually exploited by some influential people and that there exists a big sex racket that has connections within and outside the Valley.
Her revelations in a video clip went viral on social media. The girl had said that she was lured into the racket by some locals and later handed over to the pimps who were operating with the help of top men in politics and police.
She said that the sex ring was operating under the patronage of politicians and bureaucrats. The girl claimed that pimp of the racket, currently in custody, was in touch with the PDP lawmaker.
