Four JeM militants, soldier, cop killed in Tral gunfight

Anantnag, April 24, 2018: Security Forces gunned down four Jaish-e-Mohammad militants in an encounter that broke out in forest area of south Kashmir's Tral on Tuesday morning.

An army Jawan and Police personnel were also martyred in the gunfight, officials’ reports told Early Times.



Giving details about the gunfight, they said that a joint team of forces comprising army and SOG exchanged gunfire in Goiytengo forests when they forces were carrying area domination exercise.



They said after the brief exchange of gunfight security forces intercepted the militant group at the upper side of the Goiytengo forests and engaged them in a gunfight.



In the exchange of fire two army men and one SOG personal identified as Latif Gojri also sustained serious bullet wounds. The critically injured Latif later succumbed to his injuries.



Soldier Ajay Kumar of 42 RR who also sustained injures in the initial exchange of gunfire succumbed to injuries at 92 base-hospital in Srinagar.



Director General of Police (DGP) S P Vaid said that four militants affiliated with banned terrorist outfit Jaish-e-Mohammad were killed in the encounter.



Two among four slain militants are said to be foreigners while as two are local and have been identified as Abid Maqbool s/o Mohd Maqbool Bhat R/o Kahnagund Tral and Ishfaq Ahmad Khan S/o Ghulam Nabi Khan R/o Handura Tral.



Arms and ammunition including AK-47 assault rifle were recovered from the encounter site, Police said.



Awantipora Police hasn’t yet handed over the bodies of slain militants to their families.
