Daily dose of civilian killings - Have fifty six inch chest narrowed down?
Jamwal Mahadeep Singh5/25/2018 11:40:38 PM
Quote 'Great boast little roast' is resonating in every nook and corner of the state's streets. The bravado of fifty six inch chest by Modi jee during 2014 election campaign has proved to be just false Color. This bravado was a boast of taking dare devil actions against Pakistan for his continuous mischievous actions on the border, wherein the Pakistani soldiers after killing Indian Army personnel, mutilate their bodies. This boastful statement and claims of Modi Jee having 56-Inch chest was taken as a strong worded commitment for a decisive action against Pakistan. This message was taken seriously across the country owing to the reasons that those from the forces who lost their lives on borders and in Kashmir militancy attacks were from all states of the country. This tilted large number of voters across the country towards BJP. But finding no respite from the trouble and Modi led government failed utterly during last four years in curtailing the border attacks and killing of forces on the border and inside the camps have shaken the people's confidence on this government and especially of those whose kith and kin are serving the forces, deployed on borders and fighting with militancy in the interior locations. Having no concrete foreign policy towards Pakistan for putting deterrence against his actions on border and just issuing bombarding statements from Delhi for a strong action and issuing warnings for another 'surgical strikes' (when earlier such action has brought no results) has become a computer generated statement only. We can measure the intensity of this bluster of 56?, when we come across a posting dated 13 May 2017, on Google, that a former soldier's wife Suman Singh wife of ex-army man Dharamvir Singh expressing anguish and shaken by attacks on Indian Army by Pakistan addressed a letter to PM Modi and had submitted to the Zila Sainik Board Fatehabad (Haryana State) along with 56-Inch blouse (The blouse issue we can well debate separately whether it is insult of PM or to realize him of his hollow statements in a peculiar way) in an apparent reference to claims that he has 56-inch chest, largely seen as a symbol of courage.
According to data compiled by the South Asia Terrorism Portal (SATP- the largest website on terrorism) launched, there has been a 42 per cent rise in militancy-related deaths in Jammu and Kashmir since the Narendra Modi-led Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Government came to power in May 2014, (36-month period from June 1, 2014, to May 21, 2017) compared with the last three years (June 1, 2011, to May 31, 2014) of the second term of the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA-II). The number of security forces personal killed in militant attacks has increased 72 per cent from 111 in the last three years of UPA-II to 191 in the BJP's first three years. The number of civilian deaths in Jammu and Kashmir has also increased by 37 per cent, while militants' deaths have risen 32 per cent. It is worthwhile to mention here that the SATP compiles data from media reports. The army has lost nearly twice the number of soldiers in Jammu and Kashmir this year as compared to the annual toll in the last two years. While this is mainly due to increase in ceasefire violations, counter-infiltration and Pakistan Army's Border Action Team (BAT) operations on the Line of Control (LoC). There has also been an increase in the number of soldiers killed in counter-terrorist operations in the State. The BJP's third year witnessed 293 militancy related deaths in the State. 53 per cent more than the 191 recorded during the second year of its term. This period saw a corresponding increase of 61 per cent in the number of security personnel killed, 98 killed during the BJP's third year up to May 21, 2017 and the available data onward speaks of deaths of security personnel in 2017 as: June 3, two soldiers killed at Hillar Shahabad. 12 July, two soldiers killed in Keran sector. 13 August, two army personnel killed in Shopian district. 26 August, eight security personnel, including four CRPF men martyred when terrorists carried out a suicide attack on District Police Complex in Pulwama. 11 October, two Air Force Commandos Killed in Bandipora. 2 November, two soldiers killed in Pulwama District and recently on December 24, an officer of the Indian Army and three soldiers killed in Rajouri District. All these incidents have been responded by Delhi by issuance of statements only that compel even an ordinary person to think that how far soldiers have to pay the price for non-seriousness by the government headed by a person claiming of its 56-Inch chest that stunned all with surprise stopover in December 2015, in Lahore and flew to Raiwind in a chopper to attend PM Nawaz's grand daughter's wedding ceremony (uninvited) that was responded by Pakistan by terrorist attack on 2 January 2016 at Pathankot followed by many other including the deadliest attack on security forces at Uri in September 2016. This was responded by much talked 'surgical strike' by Indian forces claimed as big reply to Pakistan but it remain in many controversies and it has utterly failed to curtail the ceasefire violations, counter-infiltration and Pakistan Army's Border Action Team (BAT) operations on the Line of Control (LoC).
We come across the statement of a top army official from Udhampur available on search engine that "Our posts on the LoC are better prepared than the Pakistanis. These posts are in much better shape and, despite their best attempts; our casualties have been limited". This statement cannot satisfy those whose kith and kin stand killed on border and in militancy attacks, it may satisfy those running the government in Delhi. A 14-foot secret tunnel discovered in Arnia sector of Jammu in September 2017, right below the border fence put up to prevent infiltration into Indian territory, a second such tunnel in last seven months, earlier in Ramgarh sector of Samba. In 2012, a sophisticated 400-metre-long tunnel with ventilation pipes was also discovered in the Samba sector and another was found near the Line of Control in the Akhnoor sector in 2009. Instead of crediting the forces for detection of such digging, our politicians always credit their political masters as we find Minister of State in the PMO, on detection of tunnel in Arnia sector credited the Modi government for the BSF's success, saying the series of successes of the army and the BSF had been made possible due to PM Modi giving them professional freedom. What does 'professional freedom' from Modi Jee means to a turned Diabetologist politician is beyond the understanding of a person in uniform, who is always free to exercise his professionalism that is never restrained or put to shackles. It may be personal perspective of MoS to appease his master.
The more interesting feature that in spite of all the treacheries, the Modi government is instrumental in release of 9730 criminals fomenting trouble and one sided ceasefire in valley are unthought-of decisions. The daily causalities on border responded by HM with' Phuski Bomb' of words and PM blind to the situation enjoying his aerial bonanza.
Concluding the whole story, the moral comes out that one should never boast of the things beyond his control but politicians never hesitate to go to any extent for vote bank as is the case of Modi Jee of 'Fifty Six Inch' chest. It is universal fact that if you wish to change the situation, you must first accept and understand it as it is, but our politicians never accept it and project themselves as only visionary souls to tackle the situation in their own way and dictate the forces accordingly without knowing 'abc' of required measures to deal with such acts.
