SKUAT-J organises blood donation camp

Jammu, May 30: SKUAST-Teaching Association Jammu (SKUAST-TAJ) in collaboration with Govt. Medical College, Jammu and Social Worker Association, Jammu Chapter organized a Mega Blood Donation Camp at Main Campus Chatha.
In the camp 80 students (50 girls and 30 boys) and 21 faculty members / non teaching staff donated blood for the noble cause that will provide life saving help to the people and patients.
Speaking on the occasion Dr. P.K. Sharma, Vice Chancelleor, SKUAST-J highlighted the importance of blood donation and informed that blood donation is not merely safe but it has several advantages as it refreshes the body system and leads to proper diagnosis of body.
Dr. Vikas Sharma, President SKUAST-TAJ informed that blood donation is not harmful as it poses no threat on metabolism of the body as the donor can regenerate the blood within few days. On the occasion, Dr. Vijay Sawhney, Head Blood Transfusion Department, GMC, delivered a lecture on volunteer blood donation.
The camp was coordinated by Dr Vivak M Arya, Dr Amitesh Sharma, Dr PK Rai, Dr Balber Dhotra, Dr Sanjay Khajuria, Devinder Singh Happy, Divansh Verma, Akshy Sharma, Ali Haider, Tabasum, Sweeta, Pratiba Angral, Laxmi Sangral, Amrinder Singh, Gurshvinder Singh and Puneet.
