Do you aspire to be a leader?

Are leaders born or are they created? Undoubtedly, there are some trait or inborn characteristics which help a person to be a leader. But leadership is finally a set of skills that can be learned by training, practice and experience over a period of time. Today many people are raised to the position of a leader in the corporates. While some gain success and for some it may become a huge task. Every Management Trainee dreams to be a leader someday. If one doesn't bear the natural skill to be a leader, are they supposed to despair? No.
Leadership is a part of Personality and Personality being a dynamic feature can be developed. Our Personality can change with every new experiences and every learning. Some of the behaviours one can adapt to grow in leadership skill are: 1Readiness to learn.: It is a fact that learning never ceases. Every moment can be a new learning. An individual who has an eagerness to learn from anything and from anyone will be more developed. An informed person can easily grow to be a successful leader.2. Understanding and accepting the strengths and weaknesses is vital. One who is aware of their strengths and accepts their weakness can work upon their weaknesses and make their progress unstoppable. 3. It is very easy to get complacent in a job. It is important to continuously look for new challenges which will enable a person to get the best out of his personality. 4.Discipline is extremely important in a leader. One needs to practice discipline so that it becomes an auto process. It becomes easy for a disciplined person to climb the ladder of success and reach the position of a leader. A disciplined person is admired.5To delegate responsibility is an important skill which is essential to become a leader. Some people fear to delegate responsibility as they think it is a sign of their weakness. It is important to understand the importance of team work. 6. Making realistic goal plans and taking the team along increases followers. Therefore, it is important to learn the skill of making realistic goals and plan in accordance. The individualistic attitude has to give way to a team oriented attitude. There can be no Leader without a team. 7. Learn to listen instead of just hearing. It is important to listen to different perspectives and opinions. A blocked attitude blocks growth as well.8. Developing the skill of Creative and critical thinking will give sure shot success to the dream of leadership. Most people admire those who does not always follow a conventional path. 9. Develop the habit of taking responsibility of both success and failure of one's team.10.It is highly important for a leader to remain positive and not lose hope. A battle is lost when the leader gives up. Therefore, learn to develop a "never give up" attitude. These skills if learnt and practiced will help you to grow "The leader in you".
