Udhampur, May 30: As mercury soars, Jammu and adjoining districts have almmost turned into furnace.The temperature, it is believed has registered this much increase first time in so many years.
Reason behind the extreme weather are forest fires everywhere in Udhampur district.The forest fires area not only causes loss of green gold but also causes rise in temperature.
Environmental experts while talking to Early times disclosed that we always blame global warming for the reason behind the extreme heat yes this is right but the human error is behind the extreme heat.. He added that the dangerous effects of heat wave, including death, occur as a result of both temperature and humidity - especially if those conditions persist for more than two or three days . With temperature records being smashed month after month, year after year, it's likely that human -caused global warming making extreme heat events more frequent.
He added that in short time there is no respite from heat wave. He added that one more thing Climate change is another reason of it, he added that the Lakes, other water resources about to dry and some dried already.
We are praying to the gods for an early Rain so that people get some relief, as the heat has taken a toll on our bodies," said Vikram, a resident of udhampur. "We are not even able to do our daily chores properly.
The temperature is above 40-43 degree Celsius. The tar on the roads is about to be melts shows the symptoms of Dangerous heat wave . He added that from last many days there are sudden increases of temperature as compare to last year this year we face more heat wave weather here .he added that May and June are typically India's hottest months and temperatures regularly exceed 40C in the run-up to the monsoon rains, but this year's heat had been unprecedented.
