Rajouri, June 6: Even after two years of delivery of an electric transformer to increase the present low voltage supply to a few hamlets in Manjakot tehsil in Rajouri district, the Power Development Department (PDD) officials have failed to install the transformer.
According to information the inhabitants of village Drari and from the hamlets situated in its vicinity had managed a 63 KV transformer reportedly from MLA's Constituency Development Fund (CDF).
Reports said the transformer was provided to the department about two years ago but due to clash of political interests between the supporters of different political parties, the PDD officials can't manage the installation of the transformer.
When contacted Munshi Khan, Executive Engineer (Ex En) PDD expressed his ignorance about the matter and informed that soon he will get the detailed report from the concerned Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE).
However, Mohd Jamsheed, AEE when contacted said that the department is in constant touch with the concerned villagers, lambardars and those who have been raising objections about the location for the installation of the transformer. "With active support of the concerned the platform for the installation of the transformer at central place and other formalities has been completed. An individual is creating some problem in putting the transformer on the platform for his vested interests and the process to resolve the matter with him is under progress" said AEE. He further said it was hoped that with the involvement of elders/ lambardars and other concerned the matter would be settled soon to make the transformer functioning after Eid festival. The power supply is already intact to these villages but with low voltage. "In case the individual will continue to create hurdles even after Eid festival, the department will not hesitate to approach the police against him" said Jamsheed, AEE.
