| Anganwari workers, helpers hold protest in favour of their demands | | | Early Times Report
Rajouri, June 6: The Prime Minister's slogan of 'Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao' has no relevance in the State as the women of the state (Anganwari workers/ helpers) are on the roads for the last more than 70 days struggling for their rights while facing many unwanted situations.
More than 100 Anganwari workers/helpers today took out a protest rally at Sunderbani in the scorching heat and raised slogans against the State government for adopting alleged indifferent attitude towards their demands.
The protest was organised under the leadership of Sulekha Kumari, block president ,Aganwari Workers Union.
Similar protest demonstration was also held at Nowshera under the leadership of Sonika Sharma, tehsil president from CDPO office to Tehsil office complex and also staged dharna till 2 pm.
The Anganwari workers/ helpers are demanding regularization, release of their honorarium pending for last eight months, issuance of final seniority list, implementation of new pension scheme etc.
Raising slogans in favour of their demands Aganwari workers/ helpers alleged that the State has a woman Chief Minister and even she has failed to protect the women who after having ' Ramadan Fast' are forced to come on the roads, leaving behind their small children, in the ensuing heat waves.
Anganwari employees criticised the government for failing to enhance their monthly honorarium. They alleged that a Anganwari worker is getting Rs3600 per month as honorarium while the helper is getting only Rs1800 which is even below to minimum wage (About Rs 500 per day) of a labourer in private sector.
More than 60000 women have been engaged by the state government as Anganwadi workers/ helpers."The minimum wages for Anganwadi worker and helper should be Rs 10000 and Rs6000 respectively so that our economic standard can be raised" said workers. |
