| Speaker for making House Committees result-oriented | | | Early Time Report
SRINAGAR, June 6: The Speaker, Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly Dr Nirmal Singh today asked Chairmen, Financial and other Committees of the House to ensure the effective, meaningful and result-oriented functioning of the Committees.
The Speaker was chairing a meeting with all Chairmen of Financial and other Committee of the House here to discuss and review the working of these Committees besides exploring ways and means under Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the J&K Legislative Assembly for ensuring their effective, expeditious, transparent and result oriented functioning.
Speaker also called for close coordination between the Administration and the Assembly Secretariat. He said that we should work with team spirit and it is our joint responsibility to make the working of the Committees more active. He directed the Secretary Assembly R L Sharma to ensure full assistance from the Assembly Secretariat to the members of the Committees.
The Speaker also directed the authorities of the General Administration Department (GAD) to issue a circular to all the departments with regard to the implementation of the recommendations and observations of the reports laid on the table of the House from time to time impressing upon them to strictly adhere to Rule 308-A of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in J&K Legislative Assembly.
Speaker directed the Assembly Secretariat to take necessary steps to make a provision of one-hour discussion on the reports submitted by the financial and other Committees as per suggested by the Chairmen of the Committees in the meeting so that the decisions and recommendations contained in the reports of the Committee would be implemented on ground level.
Speaker also directed all concerned to work with utmost dedication to enable this highest democratic and lawmaking institution to deliver as per the expectations of the people. |
