6/6/2018 11:27:16 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, June 6: Sumanbhata Chila- is a mountainous village of district Kisthwar which is just 30 Kms away from district headquarter. The village is witbout water for six months. Given the shortage of potable water, more than 70 households of said villages being forced to get 'filthy' from the nallah and water bodies like ponds which were earlier maintained by rural development department under MGNREGA scheme. Local residents said, "Despite repeated comaints, the Public Health Department (PHE) and local administration of Nagsani has taken no action. "However, in year of 2008-09, NC-Congress government sanctioned 90 Lakhs rupees for piped supply to said village and its adjoining areas. The PHE department allotted the contract to an influential contractor for laying the pipes but all in vain," said a villager.
"In scorching heat, the most of water bodies get dry, and local moves kilometre distance on foot in search of potable water but the authority fails to give respite to gullible residents in the humid temperature" they said.
"To lift the water from Bootla Nallah, the department installed Rs worth lakhs machineries on the bank of nallah but due to uprooted pipes and leakage the water can't reach at tail end and machineries become dysfunctional", said locals. If some visit there they found that the water tank established near the village for supply has become filthy with full of germs. When contacted Executive Engineer, Sudesh Kotwal said that few days back he joined the office and I was unaware about it. "I will take note fix the problem", he said.
