| DB issues directives regarding security of Courts | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, June 6: In a Public Interest Litigation filed by Sumit Nayyar regarding security of High Court Jammu Division as well as District Court Jammu, Division Bench of State High Court Comprising Justice Dhiraj Singh Thakur and Justice Sanjay Gupta issued various directions.
Division Bench observed that by virtue of order dated 23.05.2018, the respondents were directed to ensure installation of an inverter backup for operating the lift. Raman Sharma, Dy. AG, appearing on behalf of the respondents stated that instead of inverter backup, the lift has been connected with the existing DG set, which will give adequate backup in case of power failure for operating the lift. However, an important aspect highlighted is that the lift is working without an Auto Rescue Device (ARD.
The second issue is the issue of regulating the parking of the vehicles in the parking areas as also the unauthorized parking of vehicles in the no-parking zones, which have been identified on a stretch of road, leading from the District Court Complex to the High Court. DB directed that Senior Superintendent of Police, Traffic shall also ensure that no vehicle should be parked in the no-parking zones on a stretch of road leading from District Court Complex to the High Court.
On security related issues, Division Bench directed Principal Secretary, Planning Department to formally consider the grant of funds for the installation of CCTV cameras in the District Court Complex, Jammu and the needful be done within a period of two weeks.
DB directed that the Registrar General in consultation with the Principal District Judge, Jammu and the Officer Incharge of Security of the Court Premises shall take a decision with regard to the space that would be allocated for installation of baggage X ray machine. |
