GDC Reasi celebrates World Environment Day

Jammu, June 6: World Environment Day was celebrated at General Zorawar Singh Memorial Degree College Reasi with great enthusiasm. The theme for this year's Environment Day celebration was "Beat the Plastic Pollution". The event was organized by Dr Anshu Gupta, Assistant Professor in EVS and was attended by teaching and non-teaching staff of the College. The event began with the keynote address by Dr Anshu Gupta. She introduced the theme of the event, emphasized on our dependency on plastic and the menace of plastic pollution due to our improper way of handling and disposing it. She elaborated the ill effects of plastics in today's world on environment, humans and wildlife. After that a Nukkad Natak on the theme "Lets Beat the Plastic Pollution" was performed by the students of the College which was followed by a group song in which students displayed various placards for awareness related to the theme. A total of 22 students who participated included Joginder, Surinder, Vishali Devi, Shivani Menia, Sangeet Kumar Tanav Rajput, Leakh Raj, Akroor Singh, Hafiza Bano, Jyoti, Arun Bhagat, Akrosh, Anam Sadotra and others.
In the end, the Principal acknowledged the efforts of the students and the staff and he also stressed on the fact that plastic pollution is a scourge on earth's health and we need to manage the plastic waste properly and switch to "Reduce, Reuse, Recycle".
