Early Times Report

Kishtwar, June 6: The ongoing indefinite strike of Patwaris which enter into 24th day today not only takes heavy toll on the general public who are suffering badly due to this strike, but the strike is also taking heavy toll on the Government exchequer and the real estate business has suffered a massive jolt as a result of which Government suffers losses to the tune of Crores of rupees.
As per the details available with Early Times, the real estate business involving land and property purchase which gives revenue worth Crores of rupees to state government on account of stamp duty and revenue abstract is the worst affected business due to this strike.
As per the tentative estimate, the Jammu and Kashmir Government suffered 40-50 crore losses due to ongoing strike and will likely to go further up as agitating Patwaris are firm on its indefinite strike call till the Government didn't agreed up on the demands of agitating employees.
Speaking to Early Times, President Patwar Association Kishtwar Nisar Ahmed Butt said that it is a matter of great concern that even after 24 days, the government fails to address the genuine demands of the agitating employees which according to him shows the non serious attitude of the government towards addressing the issues pertaining to the Patwaris and Girdawars. He said that all the Patwaris of the state are united till the government did not agreed upon the demands. He said the association will intensify it's agitation in coming days added that if the government fails to accept the demands before the holy festival of Eid, the association will hit on streets in all the 22 Districts of the state. He said that despite having fast in the holy month of Ramadan, the Patwaris are participating in full strength in protest at District and Tehsil Headquarters. He said that the revenue records of all the Patwar halqas and collectorates of Kishtwar District added that the work in entire District is presently suspended which causes lot of inconvenience to the people which he once again regretted.
Keeping in view of the ongoing strike, several revenue officers including Tehsildars, Naib Tehsildars and other related offices had written to immediate bosses complaing about the suffering on account of non execution of revenue works including developmental works seeking immediate attention of the government towards addressing the issues pertaining to agitating Patwaris.
Meanwhile District President Patwar Association Kishtwar Nisar Ahmed Butt made an appointment of Tehsil Presidents of various Tehsils of Kishtwar District so that the on going strike could be managed at grassroot level. The adjustment were made due to transfer of various existing Tehsil Presidents from one Tehsil to other Tehsil.
