Early Times Report
Jammu, June 9: The Sub district hospital Triyath situated at a distance of 42 kilometers from Tehsil headquarter, Kalakote has exposed incumbent government commitments on up-gradation of health institutions across the state. Moreover, government upgraded the hospital 12 years ago but astoundingly till date neither hospital building is completed nor sanctioned staff appointef so far.
Sources informed Early Times that SDH Triyath is a referral centre for number of dispensaries of the adjoining areas. The hospital is situated at the extreme end of Kalakote block and touching the boundaries of other two blocks. Presently, nearby 2.5 lakhs souls of the areas are totally dependent on the hospital.
However, the hospital was upgraded years back in papers but the previous as well as current government failed to sanction posts as per SDH level.
"Two Assistant Surgeons, one Dentist, four Para Medical staffers and a Junior Staff Nurse posts were sanctioned to the hospital as per level of PHC but surprisingly for the last many years no doctor was posted here. Some paramedical staff run the affairs of the hospital", sources said, adding that many times people of the area called on Legislator concern regarding sanctioned post of specialist doctors. He (legislator) assured to take up the matter with Ministry concerned but till date nothing has been done.
One doctor at the end of NRHM was posted here but within few months, the doctor was transferred from here.
The construction work of 30 bedded building awarded in 2010 awaits completion. The executing agency was Public Works Department (PWD). The then executing agency has fixed deadline for completion of the building in December, 2013 but so far only OPD block of the building was handedover to health department. The others buildings including four residential flats for doctors and six sets for Para-medical staff construction work is going on but as per as snail face.
Block Medical Officer (BMO) Kalakote, Dr Shamim Choudhary said buildings are being furnished and will.be handedover to the department shortly.
