HC directives in petition regarding issuance of Bar Licenses for seasonal bars within Leh District

Jammu, June 9: In a petition filed by filed by Ladakh Buddhist Association, Leh seeking a direction to respondents not to issue any bar license within Leh district and also grievance of petitioner-Association is that the Government has been issuing Bar Licenses for seasonal bars within the District of Leh in sheer violation of Excise Policy 2017-18, i.e., SRO 157 dated 30-3-2017.
Justice Tashi Rabstan of High Court Jammu Wing after hearing both the sides and going through the compliance report filed by Deputy Commissioner Leh observed that a bare perusal of same reveal that same have been passed without physical inspection by the officers/officials concerned and directed respondents to file fresh status report/compliance report in terms of order dated 14-3-2018 (whereby Justice Tashi Rabstan directed to furnish complete list to Bar Licenses/Seasonal Bar Licenses issued in Leh City disclosing the location of each such Bar License/Seasonal Bar License as well as the distance from religious places, schools and hospitals before the next date of hearing) after thorough physical inspection with advance copy to other side to which learned counsel for the petitioner would be at liberty to file response, if any, by or before next date before the bench.
