Martyrdom Day of Guru Arjun Dev observed

JAMMU, June 17: Shaheedi Divas of Sri Guru Arjan Dev Ji was celebrated in Jammu. The main function was organized by the management committee of Gurudwara Sri Guru Arjan Dev Ji Akhnoor Road, Domana, under the patronage of Sant Tejwant Singh, chairman Sant Pura Dana Charitable Trust.
Large number of devotees from all over Jammu attended the function. Besides various local Ragis Bhai Davinder Singh ji, Bhai Kulvinder Singh ji, Bibi Harvinder Kour renowned Ragis including Bhai Shoukeen Singh Hazuri Ragi Sri Darbar Sahib, Bhai Jasbir Singh ji Pauntha Sahib Waley recited the holy Shabad Kirtan and threw light on the life and teachings of Sri Guru Arjan Dev Ji and his great sacrifice.
Bhai Jasbir Singh Ji of Pauntha Sahib said that Guru Ji's most important contribution to the community is the step in the separate consolidation of Guru Granth Sahib as the sole and authentic scription of the Sikh. Besides the hymns of five Sikh Gurus it contains the hymns of Hindu and Muslim saints. It also contains the hymns of 15 Bhagats and 11 Bhatts.
Sh Kavinder Gupta Deputy Chief Minister while speaking on the occasion threw light on the life and history of Sri Guru Arjan Dev Ji who sacrificed his life against the tyranny and oppression of the then ruler who used to put pressure to change his religion. T. S Wazir while addressing the Sangat stated how Sri Guru Arjan Dev ji started the construction of Sri Harmandir Sahib and its foundation was laid by renowned Muslim Sufi Saint Mian Mir. He further stated that the authentication of the scripture of Guru Granth Sahib by Guru Arjan Dev ji himself, once and for all, ensured its separate identity and purity.
Other prominent and social personalities who were present on the occasion are S. Surinder Singh Advocate, S Harjinder Singh Raina Ex Secretary DGPC, Jathedar Mohinder Singh President State Akali Dal J&K, S Avtar Singh khalsa Gen Secretary DGPC.S. Surjit Singh Ji Ex Secretary DGPC, S. Balbir Singh Sudan S. Baldev Singh President Gurudwara Sri Guru Arjun Dev ji Domana, Rajinder Singh Wazir vice President State Akali Dal,
Members of Sant Gurbaksh Singh Danna International School (SGSD Intl.) S. Manjit Singh, S. Balvinder Singh Social Activist, Dr Bhopinder Singh, Ms Ravinderpal Kour & Ms Pankaj Jamwal Principal SGSD were also present there.
Sant Tejwant Singh Ji Dera Mukhi Sant Pura Dana Nanak Nagar Jammu and organising committee presented Siropao to the Deputy Chief Minister Sh. Kavinder Gupta.
