Lal Singh urges Jammuites to observe holiday on Sept 23
Accuses state govt of keeping anti-Jammu mindset
6/17/2018 11:33:13 PM
Early Times Report

AKHNOOR, June 17: Saying that every government should act as custodian of the sentiments of the people, former Minister and MLA Basholi Choudhary Lal Singh said that in the case of Jammu region, all Kashmir based parties have acted partisan and hence, have declined to declare state holiday on the September 23, the birth anniversary of Maharaja Hari Singh.
"State Legislative Council passed a resolution unanimously and sent the same to the state government for issuing a formal notification for declaring September 23 as state holiday but the government has an anti-Jammu mindset and hence, it does not care about the emotive issues and sentiments of the people of Jammu region.
In the wake of this anti-Jammu mindset, I appeal every Dogra of Jammu and Kashmir to start observing holiday on September 23 from this year. Let us send a strong message across," said Choudhary Lal Singh while addressing a function held to celebrate state foundation day and 197th coronation day of Maharaja Gulab Singh at Jia Pota Ghat in Akhnoor tehsil of district Jammu today.
"They will not declare September 23 as state holiday. Their mindset is anti-Jammu. Their hearts are filled with hatred for Dogras. They have become habitual of playing with sentiments of the people of Jammu region. And if this web is to be broken, we have no option but to unitedly oppose anti-Jammu decisions of the state government led by Kashmir-based party. Let us start by observing September 23 as state holiday. Let us close our offices on this day as a mark of respect towards the great Dogra ruler who made Jammu and Kashmir what it is today," said Choudhary Lal Singh.
"No one needs to fear since no government is possible without the people. And if the people decide to teach state government a lesson, they can and in the case of declaration of state holiday, we have to make a beginning, said Choudhary Lal Singh. He added "This is now my cause and I will fight along with you for securing our rights. We will force the state government to issue a notification only if we do our bit. Let us stay home on September 23 this year and pay homage to Maharaja Hari Singh, said Choudhary Lal Singh. He added festivities of September 23 should be at par with that of Eid, Holi and Deepawali.
Choudhary Lal Singh welcomed the announcement of the central government for withdrawal of unilateral ceasefire in Kashmir valley. "I had been saying from day one that unilateral ceasefire is an unwise step. The terrorists used the holy month of Ramzan to their advantage. They created mayhem across Kashmir valley," said Choudhary Lal Singh.
He added "There is no need to hold talks with anyone till the time guns are blazing in Kashmir valley. Let all terrorists die first and then, a decision should be taken who we should talk with." Choudhary Lal Singh said
Referring to the Rasana case, Choudhary Lal Singh said "If it is Kashmir, CBI is the only agency which reveals the truth but if it is Jammu, CBI has a bad track record. These double standards are intolerable. How long are we Dogras going to tolerate all this?
Choudhary Lal Singh appealed people of Jammu region to participate in the Mashaal Rally being held on June 27.
