Jammu, June 25: The denizens of Jammu grappled with blistering heat today with the maximum and minimum temperatures settling several notches above normal.
The city of temples recorded a high of 41.5 degrees Celsius and a low of 26.4 degrees Celsius, a spokesperson of the meteorological department said. The city's day temperature is 3.8 degrees above normal and the night temperature was 2.2 notches above the season's average, he said.
The Met department spokesperson said rains, likely on Wednesday, will bring relief from the sizzling heat.
"Scattered rain is likely to occur on Wednesday followed by fairly widespread rains till the month end," he said.
Katra, the base camp for the pilgrims visiting the famous Mata Vaishno Devi shrine in Reasi district, continued to be the second hottest place in the Jammu region. The town recorded a maximum temperature of 37.2 degrees Celsius and a minimum temperature of 22.5 degrees Celsius, the Met spokesperson said. |
