Missing Jammu and Kashmir SPO With AK-47 Joins Hizbul Mujahideen, Claims Militant Group
6/27/2018 11:08:28 PM
Early Times Report

Srinagar, June 27: The Hizbul Mujahideen militant group has claimed that the Special Police Officer (SPO) who went missing with his AK-47 service rifle from Jammu and Kashmir's Pampore police station on Wednesday has joined the militant group.
The operation spokesman of Hizbul Mujahideen Burhan-u-Din as saying, "SPO Irfan Ahmad Dar, a resident of Nehama Kakapora of south Kashmir's Pulwama district, who fled with the rifle has joined Hizb-ul-Mujahideen."
The Hizbul spokesman, quoting Bin Qasim, appealed to the cadres of the Jammu and Kashmir Police to give up their jobs and "join Hizb-ul-Mujahideen to give a push to the resistance struggle."
Muhammad Zahid Malik, the Superintendent of Police Awantipora had earlier confirmed that SPO Dar had been missing since last evening and that they had contacted his family in Kakapora, Pulwama.
The disappearance of SPO Dar comes just days after an Army rifleman Aurangzeb, also belonging to Kashmir, was abducted and killed by terrorists in Kashmir. Aurangzeb had been allegedly tortured by Hizbul Mujahideen militants for being a part of the team that neutralised Hizbul commanders Sameer Tiger and Saddam Paddar. A video of Aurangzeb before his death was also released, allegedly by the militants.
In the wake of the death of Aurangzeb and murder of Rising Kashmir senior editor Shujaat Bukhari, BJP withdrew from the PDP coalition government in Jammu and Kashmir, after which Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti resigned and Governor's rule was brought in to the state.
